Lt. Col. Scott Allen

Lt. Col. Scott Allen is the Chief of Protocol, 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio. In this role, he is responsible for advising wing leadership on all things protocol. Air Force protocol functions ensure that Air Force ceremonies, conferences, and social events are first-class and run smoothly. Protocol officers are responsible for decorum, customs, and courtesies during these events. They also support and coordinate distinguished visitor visits, such as those from the president, vice president, and other senior leaders.

A native of Charlotte, N.C., Lt. Col. Allen graduated early from Air Force Basic Training in 1990, through the Proficiency Acceleration Program, having completed four years of Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in High School. In September 2004, he received a direct commission through the Deserving Airman Program as a Logistics Readiness Officer. Lt. Col. Allen also served as the Officer-in-Charge of the 910th Airlift Wing Base Honor Guard for ten years and has been a member of the team for more than 19 years. Hand-picked to serve, he has performed more than 800 details, including: military funeral honors, color guards, honor cordons and retirement flag folding ceremonies. An accomplished singer, he has performed the National Anthem on many occasions at wing ceremonies and professional sporting events.

Lt. Col. Allen was activated during Operation Desert Storm and has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Spartan Shield. During his career, he has served in various roles in the Air Force, including Aerial Port specialist; C-130 Loadmaster; Mission Support Group Executive Officer; Installation Deployment Officer; official ceremony narrator; guest speaker at local community events; wing adjutant during wing formations; and as a Base Honor Guard master trainer. Prior to his current assignment, the colonel served as the Chief of Public Affairs, 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown ARS, Ohio.
